i should probably blog about countdown.... before i forget anything and it was such an experience, idk how to describe it.. but a learning one... and also epicly good and bad at the same time.
okay firstly, im super damn proud of all of us!!! the many late nights for the past month, going down to boonlay 3-4 times a week (and subsequently 5 during the last week) and reaching home at 1am plus... And THEN only just starting work on more boonlay stuff online.... lol wc's comment about how even at 4am, you send out an email to our countdown Oteam egroup and someone will definitely reply your email with answers, best describes our sleeping times these few weeks! but it was worth it. i really think we all put in superrrrrrr alot of effort (some really put in a lot) and it really did pay off.... though some things did not go ideally smooth on the day itself, our countdown was really, all things considered, a success lahh, and the seniors were so impressed too! the crowd was substantially more than last year's... and last year they had 30 000 people! so.... hpefully we hit the 40 000 mark?
countdown set-up the entire morning to afternoon (9am to 6 plus) was quite mind bogglingly exhausting... set up the clubhouse for the minister's visit (Mr K. Shanmugam, Minister for law and home affairs)-- installed the acrylic wall mounts finally ahaha, such problems drilling holes in the walls lor.. then since publicity stuff was long over, i helped syakir with the overwhelming attendance of volunteers... sad that our lunch didnt arrive in time tho before the volunteers came at 1... so we all pretty much didnt eat till like 6pm just before it started. besides attendance, REALLY RAN AROUND ALOT for shi harn, syakir, dj, wc... later helped put up banners too. zzzxc. saw SOME idiots stoning around and slacking. but aiya guess we called too many volunteers in too early... but it would have been messier if u asked diff groups to report at diff times so all came at 1pm! and i think the walkie talkies werent useful for some people coz they couldnt hear properly (ahem syakir) and pple never respond sometimes... but overall quite cool lah, and useful for those who really need it!
then it was countdown... haha i think being in the entourage for Mdm Ho and later for the Minister and Dr. Amy Khor was a very very very new and intriguing experience. tho quite high tension lol. waichoong was tagged to the minister, miranda to dr khor and i was tagged to mdm ho... had to keep tailing closely behind them and make sure when no one's talking to them you need to introduce what we're doing and make talk about the carnival/the stage/the things we're walking by... then have to make sure you're speaking respectfully, and you're saying the right things, and that you're saying useful/not mundane stuff. hahahaha. plus within the entourage is this GIANT jostling by all the grassroots leaders who want to walk near or next to the front impt people... HAHA. so we had to jostle with them! lol. the good part is that mdm ho specified she wanted all the youth club members (so us 3 in effect coz i think kenneth was mostly doing walkie talkie work and coordination at the back of the entourage) in the entourage to be seen in the pictures! haha good photo opps :D
ohhh plus i think our carnival chingay parade was fricking awesome!! goodjob man huaijun!!! hahaha seriously super impressive!! the stiltwalkers who could do forward flips and somersaults and gymnastic stunts while ON stilts and also jumped thru rings of fire and obstacles, the mardigras professional female greeters who wore such hehe ogling-worthy costumes and who danced so well in high heels (plus their costumes were damnn pretty) and also the martial arts troupe from some martial arts school!! ahhh they were damn cool! they performed with nanchucks, kusari-gamas, whips, etc etc.ahhhhhhh i want learn xP
but anw, for the countdown org team members like renci, shiharn, dingjun, syakir etc who had to run around so so so much throughout the rest of the countdown making sure things were going smoothly... respect(Y) :) coz of them, countdown went more smoothly than imagined and alot of potential disasters were averted! like the stage was overrunning by more than 30minutes at one point! but disaster averted i think coz renci and idk who else went to help dingjun!
okay.. later on i had to go on stage with the ipad to ask the minister to post on our One @ BoonLay official facebook page and website... then the "live feed" was to be shown on screen.lol we tricked the masses. we showed them a not so "live" feed... part of the contingency plans just in case the ipad malfunctions on stage.
finale item was a singing of We Are The World by all the impt pple, grls and youth club members on stage 5 mins before countdown! hahahaha OMG it was sooooo nice because Moses & Hanis SANG SO WELL. ahhh really awesome voices... seriously. got the chills just listening to them! in a good way :)
then FIREWORKS:D hahaha we were all jumping around like crazy, screaming and being high! haha mir cried. omg. half of us were like DONT. how can u be crying so much out of joy?? hahahaha. so emotional... but anw we ran across the open space filled with pple to find DJ at the control tent behind and we can swear his eyes were red and going to cry also! lolol! the two same bday bimbos are so similarrrr...syakir was gonna cry alr coz his darling miranda was doing so (HAHA luckily he never sees my posts)
but really at that moment was really superrrrr superrr happy that it was overrrrrrrr! i sincerely think we spent 100times more time and effort on it than PW. -.-''
okay then packed up till 2am... went home then tho! because i doubt parents would let me sleepover at the clubhouse and then go out the next day...
next day went to mervyn's house for his bday celebration :) (in advance)...of coz under another boonlay youth club excuse... what can i do :/ if parents are unreasonable you just have to get excuses even if you really dont want to haiz...
it was fun :D we sang kbox awhile! yay me and jack finally got to fulfill our dreams of singing a jap song succesfully! because everytime our whole class goes outside... the kbox doesnt have jap romaji lyrics xP lol tho in general our class peeps were quite stone in the kbox room because our class by nature always a bit stone zzxc and it was afternoon so not many pple were singing properly/highing in the mike like we always do with boonlay xD hahaha. nvm hopefully one day we can reach optimum "high" levels.... but must make pple reach "high" levels/become shameless first hahahahahaha. okay.
anw the fun part came when me and tianyuan went out to get water then we stumbled across the others playing kinect!!! omggggg DAMN FUN :) hahahaha the dance games are super awesome please even tho we're all super embarassing xD okay with the exception of jinhui who is awesome at dancing! :) hahaha sigh dance talent is so cool! played kinect for the rest of the night!! HAHA. epic lahhhh. i really wanna go persuade bro to get kinect bundle with a new xbox (coz ours died awhile back... it got the "red rings of death" lolol) hahahaha but so bad... im like making him spend his money (which isnt very much in the first place and he really needs to learn how to save... im such a bad sis! but okay nvm tmr im dragging him on a fitness regimen i dont care!! both for myself and him! zomg suddenly i think he got damn fat D: howww. tried to stop him from buying snacks last night somemore while fetching me home but it didnt work! x.x)
okay anw, later merv had his bday cake and we all took turns taking pics!! hahaha damn cool. so many pple till u need to organise them based on how they know each other! LOL! hahaha coolioz, ive never ever had a big party before... tho last time in primary schl my parents offered but i refused coz i was a shy kid xD hahahaha and now, no one really cares anymore/has the time to. hahaha but anw, i think the best this year would be if they actually let me go out and celebrate with people i care about... yea :) besides our usual family dinner that is...
later we also played the kinect obstacle course thingy. HAHAHA. funnnnn :D and tiring lol! swapped with amos halfway coz i suck and i think i jump too hard/waste energy at the start. lolol need to go train! hahaha. went to the website for these games today... lol saw a Biggest Loser exercise game! hahaha thats like for vry hardcore (and also not vry healthy) gamers trying (maybe in vain) to get fit. xD anw okay funny dance vids uploaded on FB :D and i also like our countdown vids on FB :D now we get to see the fire works that we couldnt see properly from onstage
okay end of VERY LONG POST.
oh and im really screwed... watched anime today xD hehe. then slept a whole bunch in the aftnn coz my mom woke me at 8am.... (tho she didnt know and will prob scream if she knows i slept at 4am) zzzxc
